At least six people have been killed and several others injured in an explosion outside a court building in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, according to police officials. Authorities confirmed that the blast occurred on Tuesday morning near the main entrance of the judicial complex, causing panic and chaos in the area.

Police and emergency teams rushed to the scene immediately after the explosion, cordoning off the area and moving the injured to nearby hospitals. According to rescue officials, several of those wounded are in critical condition and are receiving emergency treatment.

A police spokesperson said investigations are under way to determine the nature of the explosion.

“The spokesperson told reporters, ‘We are looking into the nature of the blast. It is still unclear, and we will share more details once our forensic team completes their investigation.’”

Security forces have begun collecting evidence from the site, while forensic experts are examining debris to identify whether the explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device or another type of explosive material.

Authorities have heightened security across Islamabad, particularly around government and judicial buildings, as an immediate precautionary measure. Law enforcement agencies have also launched a search operation in nearby areas to trace any suspects connected to the attack.

So far, no group has come forward to claim responsibility for the blast.

Witnesses reported scenes of confusion and fear immediately following the explosion. Several vehicles parked near the court were damaged, and windows of nearby buildings were shattered by the force of the blast.

The incident marks one of the most serious security breaches in the capital in recent months, raising concerns about safety in what is considered one of Pakistan’s most secure zones.

Prime Minister and Interior Ministry officials have been briefed on the situation, and an emergency response meeting has been called to assess the security situation in the capital.

Further details are expected once the forensic and counterterrorism units complete their initial investigations.
